Ein neues Projekt {Wool Wednesday}

I started a new project this week.

Back in 2005/06 I was a foreign exchange student in the US and I still talk to my host family regularly. Mary Jane and Ron are a lovely older couple and, sadly, Ron was diagnosed with B-cell-cancer (leukemia) a few months ago. He gets chemo-therapy which is working great – thank God! – but he lot a few pounds. Since Wisconsin winters are very cold (and to send him a hug), I decided to knit him a nice and cosy sweater for Christmas.

I chose Guston because I love the texture. I use Cascade 220 superwash yarn in smoke heather so it can be washed in the washing machine. I cast on for size L, even though Ron could wear a size M because he likes his sweaters loose.

I decided to knit a 2x2 rip instead of garter stitch for the bottom band because I just like the look better. I also chose to echo the cable from the pattern repeat in the rip and I really like it.

It is my goal to finish the sweater by the end of November. Christmas post is always so slow, so I have to sent the package on the first of December latest for it to arrive by Christmas Day.
